My class and I got to tour a business called Carsforsale.com a week ago. I know what you’re thinking: they must sell cars? No. They build websites for the ones who sell cars, etc. We toured there because of their coding and web design department. We got to learn the ins and outs and the good and bad from employees who graduated from the same program. They have a lot of cool stuff in their very large facility, including a life-sized replica of one of the most complete T-rex fossils in the dead center of their call center! I love dinosaurs, so it was pretty cool to see. Now, obviously, I know we weren’t just there to see cool things and go down their slide; yes, they have a slide. We did actually learn some stuff about their company and what they do there. They have teams for everything and run off of a task-based system. Everyone is constantly learning as they go, and the owner is a huge advocate of working in the office. It’s still not all fun and games just because it looked cool, and they had a lot of fun toys and games, but it was still fun to see that the owner cares about his employees being able to wind down and take a break when needed. I personally liked that everyone had their own sections with their own people to go to for help when needed. Overall, it was a great experience and a place to think about for the future.
